Beltrán was born September 30, 1986 in Culiacán, but was raised in Guamúchil, Sinaloa after she reached the age of 10 years old. Perla Beltrán was an improbable beauty contestant.
She never intended to compete in these events. Her mother influenced her decision to enter into beauty competitions in 2001 when she encouraged her daughter to compete in a local contest. Perla won the contest and has succeeded in beauty pageants ever since.
In 2007, Beltrán competed in the Miss Earth Mexico and took the 2nd place title. A year later, at the age of twenty-one, Perla represented Sinaloa in the national beauty pageant Nuestra Belleza Mexico 2008, where she obtained 2nd place among thirty-two other contestants. From there, she is competing in the fifty-ninth international Miss World pageant.
